Process 3
Yield test
3.1 A yield contractor is booked to your premises to perform the yield testing for 4 to 24 hours,
depending on the client’s needs, to enable a pump selection based on the information received.
The yield test is the process of measuring the maximum amount of water that can be pumped
out of the borehole while in balance with the refilling of the borehole from the surrounding water
source.
3.2 The yield contractor generates a bank-approved yield certificate that is presented to the client for safekeeping.
The certification forms part of the Certificate of Compliance as per SANS 10299-4:2003, which is
necessary to purchase or sell a property.
Safety Precautions, Risk identification and mitigation
3.1 The yield foreman ensures that the equipment has a clear area to operate appropriately and safely
3.2 The yield crew are equipped with PPE to reduce any risk of incidents
3.3 The yield crew are aware of their surroundings to reduce any risk of incidents
3.4 The yield or site foreman ensures that no bystanders are in close a-proximity to the equipment to
reduce the risk of any injuries to the third parties and the drill crew.
