WATER SURVEYS

The initial step in obtaining a borehole is to book a water survey to locate the best drilling point.
A report is generated and presents where water is detected, water depth is determined, including the hydrologic
and geologic features of the formation on your property to provide the client with recommendations for the optimal
location of water points and to assist the client to reduce the drilling risks that may present itself.

BOREHOLE DRILLING – DTH DRILLING

After obtaining a water survey report, the next step is executing the borehole drilling via Down The Hole (DTH) drilling.
A rig is setup at the exact location, as per the report recommendation and agreed upon by the client.
The borehole is deemed being successful at the earliest of sufficient water obtained as per the water survey report
or upon instruction by the client that it is deemed to be sufficient water.

BOREHOLE SLEEVING

A borehole can have both steel casing and PVC casing or only steel casing.
The steel casing is installed up to the depth of hard rock, to ensure the instability of the soil doesn’t collapse the borehole.
Thereafter PVC casing is used, or at the risk of the client no casing onwards, to stabilize the borehole and assist with a longer
lifespan on the pump against ravages of weathering, corrosion and age.
The casings are subsequently installed during two processes, the steel casing installation commences after hard rock has been
established and the PVC casing installation commences after the borehole is deemed being successful .

BOREHOLE DEVELOPMENT

After the borehole is deemed being successful, the borehole development commences, for a minimum of one hour, where the borehole
will be thoroughly flushed for the removal of drilling debris, additives and natural sediments from a borehole, among other aspects,
to maximize the flow of clean groundwater. After borehole development, the PVC casing is installed including gravel packs to stabilize and secure the borehole.

Borehole Yield Testing & Certification

Yield test is the process of measurement between the maximum amount of water that can be pumped out of the borehole while in balance with the refilling of the borehole from the surrounding water source.

The information obtained regarding the water supply ensures that a correct borehole pump is selected. The certification forms part of the Certificate of Compliance as per SANS 10299-4:2003, which is necessary to purchase or sell a property.

Pump & Storage Installation

After Yield testing and certification, a borehole pump must be installed, as per recommendation and agreed upon by the client. This pump is necessary to enable the supply of fresh water to the client’s selected water storage solution.

Borehole Water Quality
Testing & Filters

Consuming and using contaminated water from your borehole is a major health risk, therefore it’s important to have your borehole water quality tested on a regular basis. High Class Drilling recommends taking a water sample to a laboratory for analysis or to have at least standard borehole filters installed. After the lab result is obtained, filter options are discussed with the client to ensure the safety for consumption.

Camera inspections

Visual imaging is obtained via camera inspections of new or existing boreholes. New boreholes may be inspected to ensure that the hole is terminated as per the regulations. Existing boreholes can be inspected if a problem present itself such as a drop in performance.

Off The Grid

With our wide variety of products, a total off-the-grid water solution can be provided upon request.

Cleaning

Cleaning services are offered to clients after a borehole has been executed to ensure that the client’s premises are in the same condition prior to the commencement of the process, all debris shall be moved to one designated area for removal by a third party.
